However, there’s a particular time when train travel is put on hold, from 1 am to 4 am. During this period, essential railway repair and maintenance work is carried out, including track repairs, signal updates, and other technical adjustments. But the standard timemframe isn’t always sufficient to complete these tasks.

To address this challenge, railway employees and officials have implemented a solution – ‘mega block on Sundays’. These mega blocks are vital for maintaining the local train network.

MEGA BLOCK ON 14 JANUARY 2024

CENTRAL LINE Mega Block On Sunday 14 January

Railway Mega block on Sunday 14 January 2024: Central Line has announced Mega Block on Sunday 07 January for carrying out various engineering and maintenance works between Thane to Kalyan 5th and 6th Up and Dn Fast Lines. This block is during night between 13th and 14th January i.e. night between Saturday and Sunday.

Time: 11:40 PM to 3:40 AM

During block period, Up Mail/Express trains running on 6th Line will be diverted to Up Fast Line between Kalyan/Diva and Vidyavihar. Down Mail/Express trains running on 5th Line will be diverted to Down Fast Line between Vidyavihar and Diva/Kalyan.

During this night block period, trains will arrive 10 to 15 minutes late of the scheduled time in both directions.

HARBOUR LINE Mega Block On Sunday 14 January

Railway Mega block on Sunday 14 January 2024: Harbour Line has announced Mega Block on Sunday 07 January for carrying out various engineering and maintenance works between Wadala Road to Mankhurd Up and Dn Lines.

Time: 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Up Harbour line services towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai leaving Vashi/Belapur/Panvel and Dn Harbour line services to Vashi/Belapur/Panve leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai will remain suspended.

Commuters are requested to note that, Suburban rail services between CSMT and Bandra/Goregaon will run as per schedule during the block period.

Special train services during block period

During this block period, for convenience of the passengers, Special services will be run between Panvel to Mankhurd.

These maintenance mega blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and safety. Passengers are requested to bear with the Railway Administration for the inconvenience caused.

WESTERN LINE Mega Block On Sunday 14 January

Railway Mega block on Sunday 14 January 2024: Western Line has announced Mega Block on Sunday 14 January for carrying out various engineering and maintenance works between Santacruz to Goregaon Up and Dn Fast Lines.

Time: 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

During this block local services on up-down fast line will be diverted to slow line between Santacruz to Goregaon station. While some trains going to Borivali and Andheri will run up to Goregaon station on Harbor route. Some suburban local trains will remain cancelled.

During the jumbo block, timings of some of the trains are altered. For additional information, concerned Station Master offices are accessible for detailed guidance.
