Mukhyamantri Prakhand Parivahan Yojana (MMPPY)
In a significant move towards bolstering rural connectivity, the state transport department of Bihar has launched the Mukhyamantri Prakhand Parivahan Yojana (MMPPY). This initiative aims to expand the transport network, particularly in rural areas, by providing a substantial subsidy for the purchase of buses. In this article, we delve into the key details and implications of the MMPPY scheme.
Mukhyamantri Prakhand Parivahan Yojana (MMPPY): Phase 1
Under the MMPPY scheme, a substantial subsidy of Rs five lakh will be extended to each beneficiary seeking to purchase a bus. In the inaugural phase, the transport department plans to grant subsidies for the acquisition of 3,600 buses. This financial assistance is expected to play a pivotal role in improving transportation infrastructure and fostering economic opportunities in the state.
Prospective beneficiaries can now apply to avail the benefits offered by the Mukhyamantri Prakhand Parivahan Yojana (MMPPY) scheme. According to the official press release, residents from 496 blocks in the state, excluding district headquarters, are eligible to participate. Each block can have a maximum of seven beneficiaries, and the subsidy amount of Rs 5 lakh per bus will be directly disbursed to the beneficiary’s account by the district transport officer (DTO) through the comprehensive financial management system (CFMS). To qualify for the MMPPY scheme, applicants must be 18 years or older, possess a valid driving license, not be employed in government service, and be a resident of the block where they apply. Joint applications from more than one eligible beneficiary are also accepted, ensuring flexibility in the selection process.
The transport department emphasizes diversity in selecting beneficiaries for MMPPY. Each block will have two beneficiaries from the scheduled caste (SC), two from the extremely backward class (EBC), one from the backward class, one from the minority community, and one from the general category. The meticulous selection process takes into account factors such as vacancy and qualification.
Mukhyamantri Prakhand Parivahan Yojana: Employment Generation
The operation of 3,600 new buses is anticipated not only to enhance the state’s transport infrastructure but also to generate substantial employment opportunities. With an estimated expenditure of around Rs 180 crore, the Mukhyamantri Prakhand Parivahan Yojana (MMPPY) scheme aims to benefit approximately 3,600 individuals, each receiving a subsidy of Rs five lakh for bus purchases.
Strategic Planning and Publicity
Prior to the scheme’s rollout, a meeting chaired by transport secretary Sanjay Agarwal emphasized the importance of widespread publicity. The formulation of routes that benefit common people and collaboration with Vikas Mitras and bus operators for effective publicity were discussed during the meeting, ensuring a strategic approach to the implementation of MMPPY.
Bihar Govt’s MMPPY: Conclusion
The Mukhyamantri Prakhand Parivahan Yojana (MMPPY) represents a crucial step towards enhancing rural connectivity and boosting economic prospects in the state. As the scheme unfolds, its impact on transport infrastructure and employment generation is poised to create a positive ripple effect, aligning with the government’s broader vision for inclusive development.
